Internationally renowned Mexican Classical guitarist with Spanish Flamenco dancer.
We are delighted to include this wonderful Spanish Guitar concert featuring world-famous Mauricio Díaz Álvarez, accompanied by Cadiz Flamenco dancer María Pardo at the beautiful Parabola Arts in Cheltenham, as part of this year's Flamenco Festival.
Mauricio is a Spanish Guitarist of Mexican origin living in France, via several years residing in Spain where he attended the Real Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Madrid, under renowned composer and guitarist Gabriel Estarellas.
His accolades are almost too numerous to mention! He has performed around the world in Russia, Germany, Spain, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Mexico, Austria, Slovakia, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, India and Vietnam (where he will have visited again before giving this concert), run numerous Masterclasses, won many prizes at International Competitions (some of which he now judges), as well as acting as Artistic Director of several International Guitar Festivals.
He has also performed as Soloist in illustrious Symphony Orchestras, composes (with renowned Composers entrusting him with their work at world premieres), played on radio and television, and has 3 CDs recorded to date!
Mauricio is currently Professor of Classical Guitar at the Conservatoire des Beaux Arts in Choisy-le-Roi, France.
We are truly lucky to have such an amazing musician in our midst and look forward to hearing him perform extracts from Suite Española Op.47 by Albéniz and his own work Hommage à J.Malats, both accompanied by Flamenco dance.
This concert forms part of the 'Mes Hispanico-Latino' between Cheltenham and Hereford during November, celebrating international artists, their music and dance.
